Digital Scrapbooking Advice

I've had a few inquiries about digital scrapbooking, so I thought I would post my feeble attempt to share this wonderful world of memory making.

First, you will need a photo editing program that allows you to work in layers, such as Photoshop. Usually the program that comes with you digital camera will work, but I know there are different programs that you can download. Paint.NET & Pixia are a couple I found online.

Next, you will want to download scrapbooking "papers" & "accessories". Something Jessica Stern taught me, "do only free". That means when you google digital scrapbooking use the word "freebie". Warning, this is a black hole. Trust me, there are thousands and thousands of freebies to download. It would be just a matter of days and your hard drive will be in overload.

Here are a few of my favorite sites to start with:
ikeagoddess
digifree
shabbyprincess

Also, if you download kits, you will get everything you need to design a page or two, so those are a nice place to start.

Finally, there are companies online who print 12x12 or 8x8 pages.

This site may answer any more questions you may have.

I hope this helps. Happy Scraping!

Playtime Fun

My digital scrapbooking continues...
I found out the day after I took these pictures that Porter had a double ear infection. My poor little man.

My First Maternity Shoot

So now I've done my first maternity shoot, and I had a blast. Thanks to Mike & Sarah. I don't know who was more excited about taking these pictures, me or Sarah. She's awesome & plans on going entirely natural (no epidural!). I told her go for it. I've done it twice and have lived to tell about it!

Concert Photos

Lately, I've been the jack of all trades when it comes to photography, but, hey, I love trying new things. Lastnight I took pictures of Matt's CD release concert. It was a blast! Matt did a great job! Here are some shots I took.

Thacker Family

Is this a beautiful family, or what? Angie said this was the first time they had a family portrait done since their kids were born. I'm glad I could take care of that problem.

Matt Craig Take the Lead

Recently, I had the privilege of taking my husband's pictures for his upcoming album cover. He's so much fun to snap shots of. We took this picture at the Museum of Transportation. We found this old luggage cart with all these old suitcases on it, so I told Matt to go get one and hold it. We got to laughing, because no sooner would we get all set up to take a picture and a family would mosey over and proceed to study a train in great detail a foot away from Matt. Then, we would feel stupid, Matt holding a suitcase and me with a camera at my eye. We had lots of fun and lots of stares. Dan Posey did a great job doing all the cover design.

Halloween 2007

I love Halloween. It's the one time a year you get to be whatever you've always wanted to be. Well Matt, my husband, was Jack Sparrow for the third year in a row. I think he's milked that costume for all it's worth. I was a flapper, because I just recently cut all my hair off, so it seemed befitting to play the part. My two munchkins? They were a kitty & mouse. Or as my sister put it...they were my little Tom & Jerry.

My new found obsession!

I don't know what's worse? My love for photography or my new found obsession with digital scrapbooking. I don't claim to be a genius designer, but boy, do I have fun doing it!

Apple Pickin'

Last week our little family went apple picking. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day.

Charis' favorite part was feeding the goats.

Someone forgot to tell Porter what we were picking.

I had a blast taking Charis' pictures the other day. Her free spirit makes life so enjoyable! She's just like her daddy.

I laugh so hard when I her Charis sing her version of the ABCs. Don't worry, I know no one else thinks she's as cute as I do. :)

Young Fun

My daughter, Charis and Carter, a little boy I watch, have been playing in a moving box for a 1/2 hour. The squeals of delight from inside the box have brought me joy, for sure.

Another Day

Sitting here covered in red itchy bumps, surrounded by moving boxes and listening to the endless chatter of my 18 month old daughter I think to myself, 'what a wonderful world.' Hmmm...I just noticed she found the Band-aids and they are all over, but glory be, my business cards just arrived! We are in business. This blog thing is a good thing. Look for further updates to come.
